UNSW Womxn in Medicine X UNSW Surgical Society proudly present the inaugural Women in Surgery Symposium (WiSS)
This is a conference for all female-identifying medical students from NSW who are interested in surgery. It will be a full day of talks, panel discussions, a networking luncheon and various surgical skills workshops. Whether you are a first or final year medical student, set on becoming a surgeon or would just like to find out more, all are welcome!
We will be joined in the morning by two amazing keynote speakers, Dr Payal Mukherjee (ENT surgeon and chair of RACS NSW), and Dr Eva Nagy (Oncoplastic breast surgeon), followed by a Q&A panel with training surgeons from various subspecialties including general surgery, orthopaedics, cardiothoracics and plastics. Morning tea and lunch will be provided, as well the chance to network with surgeons, sponsors and like-minded peers! In the afternoon, you’ll have the opportunity to rotate through 5 essential surgical skills sessions including suturing, laparoscopic skills, diathermy, stapling and prepping the sterile field.
